Canada Reduces the Right of Permanent Resident Fee (RPRF)

The Canadian government introduced its 2006 budget on May 2nd and it contains good news for individuals thinking about immigrating to Canada or currently in the immigration process. Effective immediately, the Right of Permanent Resident Fee (RPRF) is reduced from C$975 to C$490.

Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) requires the RPRF from all adult applicants prior to issuance of their permanent resident visa.

Biometrics For Immigrants

Contractors will look at facial and fingerprint biometric capabilities for security and identity verification at designated ports, border stations, an airport, a refugee processing center, and immigration offices in Canadian provinces, Seattle, and Hong Kong.

This program encourages Canadians to finance their children's post-secondary education by contributing to a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP).

Lifelong Learning Plan (LLP)
This plan lets you withdraw money from your RRSPs to finance training or education for you, your spouse, or your common-law partner.
