Editorial: Open up professions to skilled immigrants

A bill introduced recently in the Ontario Legislature aimed at lowering barriers faced by foreign-trained professionals is a welcome step toward making it easier to work in Canada.
The bill would require the regulated professions, such as medicine and engineering, to make fairer and more transparent the steps foreign-trained professionals must take to become licensed . It also would force the regulators to assess credentials more quickly, provide a written decision and ensure unsuccessful applicants can appeal..
